I was born in Bratislava, Slovakia, in 1975. I was educated at the School of Applied Arts (Department of Ceramics) and followed my studies at the Academy of Fine Arts and Design in Bratislava.
The deciding event in my personal artistic development was the semester long study at the University of Sunderland in the United Kingdom. In the Department of Glass and at the National Glass Centre, I was introduced to the wonders of cast and blown glass. This determined my future career. After finishing the studies at the University I began my apprenticeship with Zora and Stephan Pala. In October 2004, after almost 6 years, I returned to Sunderland to spend there 4 weeks at the University as an artist in residence. Since 2005 I am working and managing my own studio based in Bratislava.
My major interest lies in kiln-formed glass, especially in casting techniques. The majority of my works are inspired by the architecture, which I tried to transform into glass. The strict geometrical forms fascinate me and I enjoy putting them into contrast to gentle curves. I am using the light and the thickness of the glass to play with the intensity of the colour and thus creating glass paintings without using a paintbrush.
