27 years of thoughtful development bring you the confident and challenging sculptures of Richard Jackson. Throughout this time he has travelled widely recording images and impressions of his experiences, as well as working in studios and studying in the USA, Denmark and UK. His formal education was at West Surrey College of Art and Design, graduating with a BA (Hons), Three Dimensional Design – Glass in 1989.
Richard has an extensive international exhibition profile, with recent exhibitions including ‘Reflection’ at Salisbury Cathedral, UK, Coburg Glass Prize, Germany and ART Shanghai, China. His work can be found in notable collections including the Victoria and Albert Museum, the National Museums of Scotland and MAVA, Madrid.
Richard has created numerous commissions for private, corporate and public spaces and has 15 years experience of creating artworks for marine vessels. In 2010 he was awarded an important ‘Museumaker’, Arts Council, commission to create a large exterior site specific sculpture for the award winning museum, The Lightbox, in the UK.
A member of the Royal British Society of Sculptors (RBS), he recently undertook a three months artists residency at Fonderia Mariani learning the art of bronze casting. The ‘Brian Mercer Bronze Casting Residency’ is considered to be one of the most important residencies of its kind and was awarded to him by the RBS and the Brian Mercer Trust.
